Strategic AI Integration Component Prototyping Workflow Documentation Process Improvement

My Role

Pioneered the design team's strategic integration of AI by piloting the setup of the Cursor IDE which pairs with the Fender codebase .

Spearheaded conversion of the Ascent component library into a working v0 template.

Streamlined the design-to-code workflow and empowered designers and project managers to prototype closer to production.

Challenge

Klaviyo’s goal to be an AI first company meant designers had to contribute to the code base using the latest AI workflows and tools.

The designers (non-engineers) needed an easy way to set up Cursor and work safely in the codebase without a long and painful onboarding process.

Solution

I created the setup documentation and piloted a simplified install flow with engineers, repeatedly tested the process, and helped train designers on using Cursor in real product workflows. I offered guidance and best practices during office hours to help designers and project managers onboard the new Claude/Cursor/GitHub integration.

Impact

My AI workflow creation and training reduced setup from 4 hours to 30 minutes, drove 100% AI IDE adoption across design, and enabled designers to create code-based prototypes and UI bug-fix PRs. I presented this project at the 2026 UXPA conference “How AI is bringing designers closer to code” because of the success of this program.
